2011 Gossipy News
Knitty Gossip – I’ve been knitting a bit these past few months. This is mostly because my work, as in my hats, was excepted into the Arts on Main Gallery in Picton on the Main Street. I’m an official fibre artist there now! I also started playing with creating nuno scarves which is a felting technique using wool and silk. It is so much fun playing with fibre, I’m having a blast! Thanks to my friend Tammy Thompson (aka gorgeous model) and Brandy Gale (aka fabulous photograher)! More photos can be seen here of my hats.
Summer Art Camp Gossip – Well camp is coming together and full details will be coming shortly. The parts that are confirmed as of now is that Art Camp will take place in Picton this year at St. Andrew’s Church on King Street. The camp will run in July for 4 weeks, Mondays to Fridays from 9 am to 4 pm each day. Like every year each week will have a different theme. Right now week 1 will be “Magic Days” (chasing elves and fairies and creating magical tools), week 2 will be “Puppet Palooza” (everything imaginable to create a puppet will be explored and played with, maybe even a show to wrap up the week) week 3 is “Paint with Expression” (we’ll be introducing the kids to artists like Serat, Picasso, Georgia O’Keefe, Pollock and all their fun, expressive techniques). Week 4 we haven’t quite figured out all the details so it does not have a name currently. The plan so far is to work on creating using something besides pencil, paper and paint. We will probably do more needle felting since the kids all seem to love this. Play with some clay, paper mache, who knows were we will go but we always have fun getting there!
The cost I’m still working out and campers need to be 5 years and older.
Gossipy Shop News – is that I have had, once again, too much fun shopping this past January and went to the Mode show in Toronto. Well to make a long story short I found some of the funkiest, cool clothes ever! Yes, that’s right I did buy a bunch so I’m currently working on redesigning the upstairs of the barn to hang all the clothes.
The store will open Saturday March the 19th and will be open after that Thursdays to Sundays. Thurs. & Fri. 11 am to 5 pm and Sat. & Sun. 10 am to 5 pm. As of May 1st we will be open 7 days a week. Also feel free to call me if you need to pop in on a day we aren’t normally open, I’m usually around and can open up easily enough.
Goat Gossip – Well Knit and Purl are bored silly with all this cold weather and have managed to do some minor damage to our barn, their shed door and to the poor chickens. Never a dull moment around those two! They are especially looking forward to the return of people and all the attention they are missing out on. They did have a rather large wolf visit their barn but luckily all we found were his enormous paw prints in the snow in the morning and no damage. Smart wolf! I’m not sure who would have won that battle, they can do serious damage with those horns!
Sad Gossip – Sadly our old golden retriever Belle passed just before Christmas so it’s pretty quiet around here. Baxter the cat is trying his best to fill the void by draping himself across the lap of anyone caught sitting anywhere. She was a fabulous shop dog and always managed to look very needy to all that came to visit with ice cream cones. She sure loved ice cream!
Take care to you all and I can’t wait to see everyone again this year so we can all have a good visit and sit and enjoy the view down here on the river.
